New Haven, CT

Terrible traffic on the Merritt and pretty much everywhere in the rain so we could not make our expected great brunch at The Corner Restaurant in Milton so Connor selected the Barraccuda Bistro in New Haven, CT. Lobster benedict, lobster tacos and chicken wraps were very good. Cool music and a perfect drink in a Guava Kentucky Mule.  Finished the day off with a fun party in Hamden with the 2017 Men's lacrosse bobcat grads.

Somerville

The Sisto's recommended Boulevard Seafood Company in Somerville, NJ and we ended up having an excellent meal last night.  The evening started with an excellent small plate of avocado crab tortelonni.  General rule of thumb is that you can't go wrong with a crab and avocado combo. Shrimp corn dogs were really unusual and tasty.  Black Sea bass and the soft-shell crab appetizers were excellent.

Roots and Morris Tap

A rarity in that I am posting a picture of my own food (I'm an eater not a cooker).  Dieters be wary for that pork roll, egg burger explosion!  For a more professional food experience we went to Morris Tap and Grill on Friday for duck quesadilla with ghost chilli (that's a spicy meatball!) Tonight really enjoyed Roots especially the shrimp and grits!

New York City

Great night in NYC with Leslie at the Clapton concert. The night started at District Social on 37th street. We started with a shrimp flat bread with gruyere cheese.  Leslie's Cod was really light and a perfect combo with the mashed potatoes.  My Bronzino was also light and had some nice drizzle and rub on the side which worked.  The Happy Hour beer was excellent and really reasonable especially in NYC.

savannah, georgia and hilton head, south carolina

I turned a golf outing with my Basking Ridge buddies into, of course, a nice food experience down South in Savannah and Hilton Head. Started at Buffalo's for a casual meal in Bob T.'s club for some nice fish sandwiches but the brunch was the star with shrimp and crab omelet.  The next couple nights went to the Canoe Club  which had a different but nice version of the gumbo. The crab beignets were unbelievably creamy and delicious.  One ugly scene however when I had to fight Bob T. for a few spoonfulls of the chocolate ice cream desert at the Canoe Club.  :) ;)

Bob saved the best for last when we eat at the Olde Pink House in Savannah.  The crab bisque was smooth and rich. We chose the Habersham platter that had scallops, shrimp and grits (of, course!) and crab cakes. We need to go back when we have more time and explore the food of Savannah!

Went really local this weekend and sat at the bar in the Black Horse restaurant in Mendham.  I had a lat lunch from Marie's chicken joint in Chatham (good brisket sandwich and fried chicken meal) so something light was in store.  Coconut shrimp skewers, Shrimp on a nice crisp shrimp were a nice compliment to crab tater tots.

Sandwiches in Morristown, Hoboken and Cinnaminson

This weekend was sandwich weekend and started out at Saigon Subs in Morristown.  I tried this spot for the first time and was happy with the selection of Lemongrass chicken sandwich and the shrimp lettuce rolls.
Saturday I went into Hoboken to visit Connor and Greg L. recommended Luca Brasi's and had a very good shrimp parm sub.
Sunday we went down to the location of Tyler and Allie's nuptials for a tasting.  Got a preview of the chocolate fountain and the beef was excellent.
After the tasting we went over to Randazzo's in Hainsport to get the chicken cheesesteak (spicy!) and the chicken sandwich on special bread.
All in all good eating all over the State of NJ.
