Revolution in Morristown

Really liked the beer selection at Revolution in Morristown especially the mango beer (never thought I would like that one). Pleasantly pleased with the food selection which had excellent chips and potato salad. Burger and fish and chips hit the spot.

Gregorio's in Chatham

Updated 6/17/17 - If the crab cake is on the Specials menu get it; one of the best I have had. The baby spinach salad was fresh with a light dressing.  I had to get Leslie's favorite pistaccio crusted salmon and that dish is really strong.

We went to highly recommended Gregorio's Restaurant in Chatham and we were not disappointed.  Leslie's pistacio crusted salmon was the best salmon dish she has had to date (which is saying a lot because she gets salmon all the time).  Our beet and apple salad was crisp and very good while my seafood ravioli hit the spot.  Topped it all off with a homemade special apple dessert in a very light dough and gelato.  We will go back!  BYOB made it reasonable.

UPDATED 12/4/16: NFL made us go back to Gregorios this weekend and we had another strong meal there. We got the evening started at Twin Elephant Brewing Company in Chatham which is brutal to find but Don and I like the beers which were well brewed and not overwhelming. That place needs a sign and some light over the doors but nice vibe once you get inside.
At Gregorios, NFL got her usual and I had the other salmon dish which was good but the pistachio crusted salmon is just better.  Ann had the pork tenderloins which she was nice enough to share and I really liked that dish.  Don went with the lasagna which was very good. The nutella and banana crepe was good but I really did not have the room (of course Ann made room and topped it off with a piece of bread which is so Ann-like)! All in all very fun night.

In October, 2017 we went back and got our usual but also tried a Special ravioli as an appetizer.  The beef ravioli was strong especially with one of my favorite crab cakes.

Edison, nj Harold's

A strange place for a jewish deli but Harold's NY Deli in Edison, NJ was an excellent side trip for lunch this Saturday.  The size of the sandwiches is just ridiculous and the potato pancake can feed a small army.

Green Brook, NJ

Fun Sunday early dinner at Capital Tap and Grill.  Great beer selections on tap and the food was pretty good too.  Leslie 's warm fried goat cheese salad with chicken was very good and my pizza hit the spot with the 4 beer flight.

Cranford, nj

A new entry to my favorite nj restaurants is A Toute Heure in Cranford. Good service, sat us right away and the food was really interesting. Started with great warm bread and walnut butter.  Appetizers were great with Leslie having the sweet potato and I had the braised bacon and shrimp which was awesome.  The main courses were NJ Scallops and my pulled beef pot pie that was as good as it looked.

Top restaurants in nj (that I have been to)
410 Bank Street - Cape May
Serenade -Chatham
Pluckemin Inn -

Mohegan Sun and Old Saybrook Ct.

Fun weekend of golf, comedy and eating this past weekend at Mohegan Sun Casino and Fresh Salt in Old Saybrook.
At Michael Jordan's pub we had an excellent mozzarella, tomato and balsamic vinegar drizzled flat bread.

Then my food guru Coach Frady recommended Fresh Salt restaurant in Old Saybrook, CT.  I could not have been more thrilled with the Grilled cheese sandwich with lobster and havarti. Comes with house made chips. Amazing! Paired great with our bloody mary for early lunch.  Leslie had an excellent turkey sandwich on walnut and raisin bread.  Next time we have to find a way to get a Sunday brunch there.

Denville, nj

Enjoyed Thatcher McGees  which is an Irish pub in Denville, NJ after golf with my boys Connor and Tyler at Flanders Valley.  Irish fish bites with boom boom sauce were really excellent and the bar was pretty cool.

Basking Ridge

I don't usually post non-restaurant food but I did enjoy Chris Twillman's apple cinnamon square at the Scott's Olympic's event.

San Francisco

Thanks to Tyler and Allie for this submission for San Francisco!  Looks great and Tyler starting to think like a foodie #chipofftheoldblock

New Hope Pa and Lambertville nj

Disappointed that the deck at the Blue Moose was under re-construction but it gave us the opportunity to check out Caffe Galleria in Lambertville who gladly let Murphy hang out during brunch.  Just a beautiful morning out on the porch and my breakfast burrito with sausage was really excellent.

Excellent brunch in New Hope Pa at the Blue Moose Cafe. Gave the Full Moon Cafe in Lambertville, nj a run for its money.  I had the brie and sausage omelette and Leslie had the french toast with fresh fruit and whipped cream (well I actually ate the whipped cream of course! :)  The topper was that we brought Murphy, sat on the deck and she was a good girl.
I still think my crab breakfast burrito with spinach at Full Moon is one of the best breakfast meals in the area.

Mountain Lakes, Livingston and Morris Plains

I heard good things about the Station at Mt. Lakes and Connor and I really liked the place. Started with the Firecracker calamari as an app and then moved on to the panko crusted tilapia and the chicken and shrimp jambalaya - nice!  Sauce from the Jambalaya was special. Pictures below.

In the Livingston area for Saturday lunch so dropped by Eppes Esson Deli for corned beef.  "They" say best jewish deli this side of NYC.

 Firecracker calamari and octopus.

Dinner at Zinbergers in Morris Plains. Nice atmosphere, big TV's and a Tasty Burger.  Got the Kobe beef burger and worth the extra $'s.

Tilapia and Chicken and Shrimp Jambalaya.

Hoboken and Bernardsville

updated: 2/19/17
Saturday night at Osteria Morini in Bernardsville where the appetizers stole the show.  We shared the BURRAT creamy mozzarella, with prosciutto, pickled persimmon, walnuts, saba.

The Third appetizer was a calamari and shimp combo.
The meatballs were excellent and made from prosciutto and mortadella braised in pomodoro, fonduta, grilled rustic bread.

What a glorious day Sunday in Hoboken with temperatures in the 60's in February. Because everyone was out with and without their dogs we had a tough time finding an outside patio for Murphy but settled on McSwiggens. We had a nice late lunch with Connor. with $6 drinks and my buffalo chicken wrap hit the spot.  Murphy loved the pier/park on 1st street overlooking NYC.

We spent a nice Saturday in Hoboken starting with a strong bloody mary at Amanda's and great beer at Pilsner Haus.  Beer went great with my Polish Kielbasa and Leslie's Portobello mushroom and Gruyere sandwich grilled.  Went out smiling with two free huge!!! mugs for Pilsner Haus' 40th anniversary.

Day ended with one of our favorite fish tacos and fried calamari at the Station in Bernardsville with good friends Matt and Caryn Miller.

East Windsor

Recommend the shrimp and calamari appetizer with a nice mayo sauce for dipping.

Americana Dinner sets up my meeting in East Windsor, NJ.  Not your ordinary dinner.

Morristown, nj

Nice night back at Washington Street Bistro and our usual cod pie selection.  Don S. seemed to enjoy the heirloom tomato salad, the pate terrine and the pan-seared fish special. Yes the man can eat!

Nice way to chill after golf with LPGA at End of Elm.  Drink is called Make Me Something with fig vodka (of course).  A little sweet but refreshing and the wings were tasty.

An early birthday celebration at South and Pine in Morristown. Started with some spicy bbq shrimp. The duck was nicely done as usual even though they were out of figs (I could have brought mine!)  Leslie had the salmon with black cous cous.  Beautiful night with a needed cool breeze!

Not quite Morristown but Morris Plains H2Ocean has an interesting presentation of Shrimp.

Food in Morristown starts and ends with the cod pie at Washington Street Bistro.  Amazing.
